CUAHSI Hydrologic Information System Workshop - Kansas 2009

TUESDAY and WEDNESDAY, MARCH 24th and 25th, 2009

INTRODUCTION

This was a workshop held in Kansas to show people in the KS region that HIS is useful and that it provides a platform that should/could be used to serve KS water resources data.

David Steward was the main point of contact.

The workshop was 1.5 days long, with a basic overview of the HIS system as it is now, and mention some of the more critical elements within ODM and WaterML. Any remaining details would be addressed and guided by questions asked during the training portion of the workshop. The general schedule was:

  • Day 1
    • Morning - Introduction to CUAHSI HIS
    • Afternoon - Loading Data into ODM (workshop)
  • Day 2
    • Morning - Publishing a Data Service (workshop)

  • Demos [ZIP; 14MB]- Documents providing instructions on how to give demonstrations of HIS.
  • ElectronicMaterials [ZIP; 11MB] - PowerPoint presentations, plus a bookmarks file with bookmarks pertinent to HIS that were mentioned during the workshop. The bookmarks file can be imported into IE7 and FireFox 3.
  • PrintMaterials [ZIP; 6.4MB] - Documents that were printed for the class.
  • WorkshopData [ZIP; 3.3MB] - Raw and transformed data files of groundwater levels in Kansas. Each of the 23 workshop computers had its own subset of the dataset to work with. The subset for Group23 is included as a standalone folder within the WorkshopData folder. Participants loaded the data into HIS.
